Milford Sound Drive – Spectacular New Zealand
As we set off on our drive from Te Anau to Milford Sound, we checked the website update to confirm the road would be open. Yes, it would be open in time for us to join the cruise, which was such a relief. Milford Sound, one of New Zealand’s most spectacular natural attractions is well worth the trip, even if staying in Queenstown. Whilst you can either catch a bus or drive yourself, we opted for the self drive so we could stop for some walks and photos on the return journey.
We were surrounded by the most magnificent scenery of snow-capped mountains peeking above the fog and misty valleys. Every corner revealed another amazing view. With snow falling as we travelled further into the fiordland, it was a day to be remembered. Our Cruise with Real Journey’s was on a small boat that enabled us to go right under the waterfall mist and get up close to the dolphins and seals. The 90-minute trip was totally amazing especially with the clear blue sky and sun shining. It really is a must do on every South Island itinerary.
