Wales – Exploring Llangollen’s Historic Castle
In the beautiful quaint town of Llangollen, the ruins of a medieval castle by the name of Castell Dinas Bran jut out from a steep hill just outside the town and provoke a sense of adventure; to hike up and explore the castle. After a steep and slippery walk, I was rewarded and wowed with the 360-degree view of the town. The feeling of being on top of the world was most definitely worth it. It was exhilarating to be high above the tree dotted lush green landscape, with the fresh country air whirling around me and whipping through my hair. Being able to explore and walk through the ruins of the old castle gave an extra dimension to the hike, as I was able to picture what life would have been like back in 1200’s when the castle was first built. I began the walk at dusk, (although any time of day the view would be beautiful), the pink sunset, the twinkling lights of the town below, and the dramatic grey of the Welsh clouds above was postcard worthy and an image that will stay with me forever.
